BetterKey does a lot of quiet work.
A window alert while you were in a meeting. A Lock on Depart confirmation when you stepped out of the car. A parking pin saved because you took the same exit twice.
Those moments are easy to miss. A notification disappears with a swipe. A command finishes, the confirmation fades, and you move on. The app is doing more for you every release, but the record of that work has been scattered and temporary.
Activity is our answer.
An app that watches your car should show you what it saw#
Tap the bell in the top-right of the Cars screen and you get the last seven days at a glance. Newest first.
Recent notifications BetterKey created on this device, in case you swiped one away too fast to read it. Successful lock, unlock, start, and stop commands from the Cars screen. Automation updates such as Park Location, Lock on Depart, Prompt to Unlock, and Open Window Alert.
Nothing here is new behavior. BetterKey has been doing all of this for months. What’s new is that you can see the receipt.
Why seven days#
Long enough to answer “wait, when did that happen?” without turning Activity into a permanent record of your movements. Short enough that we’re not making claims about where you were last spring.
When a row falls out of the window, it’s deleted. If we ever want to keep more, we want to have a reason to give you.
Where it lives#
Your device. Not a server.
Activity is written to and read from your phone. Uninstalling the app clears it. Signing out clears it. Rows older than seven days drop off on their own. Activity does not sync, and BetterKey does not create a server-side copy for this feature.
That’s how we think about receipts for automation: useful to the person the app is acting on behalf of, without creating another server-side history.
