“Did I lock the car?”

Halfway down the block. Already inside. Already on the couch. You shouldn’t have to wonder. BetterKey can take care of it.

The worry that doesn’t have to start
#

Lock on Depart is opt-in. Flip the toggle in Settings and BetterKey adds one less thing to think about: after you park and walk away, BetterKey can lock the car for you. No tap, no widget, no Siri request. Just the moment of doubt removed from your day.

Turn it off any time. BetterKey stops locking your car automatically. The next time you walk away, nothing happens.

How it knows you’ve walked away
#

Lock on Depart builds on Park Location. That’s how it knows the car is parked and which car it is.

Park Location needs to be on too. It’s where the parked-car signal comes from.

The pattern BetterKey watches for is specific. You’ve been driving. You stop. BetterKey confirms the parked car. Then you walk away. Only when all of that lines up does the lock fire.

A car locked by mistake is annoying. So Lock on Depart waits to be sure before it acts.

Just the lock
#

It locks. That’s all it does. It doesn’t unlock when you come back. It doesn’t start the engine. It doesn’t touch anything else about your car.

For supported vehicles, it also checks that the engine is actually off before sending the lock, so a quick run inside while the engine is idling doesn’t end with a locked, running car.

Built to wait
#

Anything that touches your car without asking has to earn that. So Lock on Depart is conservative.

A parking confirmation by itself isn’t enough. The lock fires only when everything agrees that you’ve actually left.

When BetterKey isn’t sure, it does nothing. A missed lock is better than the wrong lock.

You parked. You walked away. BetterKey can do the rest.

That’s the whole point.
